Pattern is for intermediate to experienced knitters. Must be familiar with the following stitches: cables, YO, increase stitches on both right and wrong sides, decrease stitches on both right and wrong sides, and slipping stitches.
Inspired by my trip to the highlands in the fall of 2015, I had this strange feeling that I had returned home. There is something ancient in those hills that call to you and I have no doubt that when I left I had left a piece of my heart there. And I know it is still waiting for me to return.
Yarn: Pandia’s Jewels Aran Tweed (85% SW Merino/ 15% NEP; 183 yds/100 g): you will need 5 skeins in different colors.
Individual yardage used for each color in sample shawl:
- Color A- 160 yds
- Color B- 171 yds
- Color C- 158 yds
- Color D- 165 yds
- Color E- 158 yds
Needle: US Size 7 (4.5 mm) 40” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge.
Notions: Cable Needle, Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle.
Gauge: 8 stitches and 11 rows = 2 inch in stockinet Stitch
Finished Measurements (after blocking): wingspan is 78’ and center spine is 30.5”
